Iron Fist season 1: How is Netflix's Finn Jones different from Marvel's Danny Rand?. These are the major differences between Netflix's Iron Fist and the comic books In the comics, Danny Rand from New York trains hard to earn the superhero status of Iron Fist in the mystical city of K'un-Lun. The origins of Finn Jones' character is similar, although Netflix[1] deviated from the source material slightly. The comic book Danny Rand's parents did not die in a plane crash but were killed by their business partner Harold Meachum. In the series Harold Meachum (David Wenham) was not involved in their death, but is under the grip of The Hand, a mysterious ninja-group of criminals. The orphaned Danny is then taken in by a group of monks form the heavenly monastery of K'un-Lun where he was trained in mystic martial arts. Learning under the master Lei Kung, The Thunderer, Danny rises through the ranks of K'un-Lun to earn the title of Iron Fist. The Netflix series follows a similar origin story but slightly deviates from the source material Dipping his hands in the molten heart of Shou-Lao the dragon, Danny can focus his life force, known as chi, into his fists. The comic books spent more time in K'un-Lun, detailing the time that Danny spent there during his training. But the series never dwells too long on the monastery, offering only glimpses and recollections into the hero's past. Comic book Danny never had to deal with The Hand this early on in his life because the group of villains was created years after the Iron Fist. Another major difference is the relationship between Coleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) and Danny who develop romantic feelings in the series. In the comic books the two were only friends, with Danny dating Misty Knight, played by Simone Missick on Netflix's Luke Cage. The series does not delve too much into Danny's training in K'un-Lun The Iron Fist is one of Marvel's greatest martial artists and the series plays up to that claim with its intense fight scenes. But series only touches upon the full range of powers the Iron Fist possesses in the comic books, which fans were hoping to see in live action. Danny Rand as the Iron Fist will return to Netflix in the upcoming Defenders, which will see DareDevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist team up. Iron Fist first came to life on the pages of Marvel's Marvel Premiere issue 15 in May 1974. IRON FIST: IS NETFLIX'S MADAME GAO MARVEL'S CRANE MOTHER?[4] Danny Rand has superpowers derived from the dragon Shou-Lao The kung-fu movie-inspired hero got his own solo comic book run just a year later before dwindling sales threatened his cancellation. To keep Iron Fist alive, Marvel[5] paired him off with fellow hero Luke Cage in the iconic Power Man and Iron Fist series.
